Youth & Community Workers Pay
UNISON and the other unions have submitted a pay claim for 2010 which consists of
· A substantial pay increase at least in line with inflation;
· Financial recognition for emergency call out and late night sessions
In response, the employers indicated the would give the claim serious consideration while pointing out that councils faced “extreme unprecedented difficulties”. They also said they had to be mindful of decisions taken in other negotiating bodies including the NJC (the body for most local government workers). The unions confirmed its opposition to a pay freeze both in principle and of it being extended to youth and community workers.
