County council and health service link-up?
Members may have read in yesterday’s Derby Evening Telegraph of ‘plans’ to "save money and improve services" by creating “joint posts” where employees work for both the county council and the health service at the same time. (“County council and health service may pool their resources in radical shake-up”).
In that article, UNISON’s east midlands regional local government secretary correctly says that the unions haven’t been approached about any such plans.
The council unions in Derbyshire will now be writing to the council leader asking for him to explain his comments and expand on the plans that have been announced to the press.
As soon as we have a response, we will inform members.
